Hello! Welcome back to All Hear,
The Everything List for Audio Opportunities.
If you’re new here, in this newsletter, you'll find international audio opportunities with upcoming deadlines, as well as a couple of Spotlights for initiatives that I find particularly special.
This month, it’s nice to see lots of opportunities in Latin America, especially the Convocatoria Development Programme, which offers audio-specific training. It’s also a great month for Scottish audio people, with three exciting initiatives — I particularly love the sound of the SSW x Counterflows Caregivers Residency, which offers sound artists with caregiving responsibilities a chance to create new work. And lastly, the Audionomia Wisława Szymborska Sound Miniature Contest is a really fun prompt to inspire creativity and celebrate the connection between poetry and audio.
In each edition of the newsletter, I try to improve something. Last month, it was adding Google Calendar invitations for the deadlines. This month, I’ve created a Substack page for opportunities with rolling deadlines, so that they are more easily seen. The time to make those amendments was generously funded by Falling Tree productions (thank you Falling Tree!). All Hear is free and always will be, but if you would like to support me as I continue to write the newsletter and update my resource list, you can buy me a coffee, or donate to Transom.
Lastly, a permanent change is that the newsletter will now be released on the first Thursday of every month! The next one will be out on the 7th September.Lastly, a permanent change is that the newsletter will now be released on the first Thursday of every month! August Spotlight
This month I’m so excited to be Spotlighting the Podcasting, Seriously Funds, which provide financial support for independent, BIPOC, Queer and Trans podcast producers, helping fund applications to awards and training opportunities.
It’s such a great initiative, and is actively making the industry more equitable. It also feels particularly apt this month, after The British Podcast Awards originally planned to charge £354 for a regular ticket to their awards ceremony, without giving any discounts to nominees or independent producers (they have since reduced the prices and added a sliding scale system, following complaints from the community).
Unfortunately the fund is currently only available for producers from the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia, but get in touch with LWC studios if you are a donor from elsewhere who would be interested in expanding the funds.

More Opportunities:
International
SONOHR Audio Unlimited Call Out - the SONOHR Radio & Podcast Festival in Switzerland is looking for international audio-based artistic works and performances that go beyond the limits of conventional audio productions (radio plays, produced audio pieces, podcasts) and explore new, unheard-of, creative and daring approaches to the medium. These can be documentary, fictional or experimental live performances and radio plays, soundwalks, live podcasts, interactive formats and other innovative or interdisciplinary ideas. They accept both completed works as well as proposed projects. They offer remuneration for performance for the selected projects and audio works, as well as accommodation and reimbursement of travel costs to Bern for the festival in February 2024. All languages are accepted; audio works in German, French or English can be submitted without transcripts; works in other languages may only be submitted with an English or German translation.
The deadline is 7th August.
IDA Documentary Awards - a competition for the documentary genre, held by the International Documentary Association (IDA). There is an audio documentary section with two categories: Best Stand-Alone Audio Documentary for a one-off program or single episode from a curated series that stands alone as a full-length documentary, and Best Multi-Part Audio Documentary or Series, for multi-episodic documentaries, conceived and constructed with a beginning and an end, where all the episodes create a complete story when listened to sequentially. Audio programmes that consist primarily of news reporting, interviews, and conversational episodes are not eligible, nor are anthology series with multiple episodes on unrelated subjects. Entries cost between $175 and $660 depending on deadline, membership status and length.
The final deadline is 8th August, 11:59 pm PDT.

Successful applicants will receive a €10,000 stipend for their project as well as one-on-one mentorship, workshops, reading groups, guest talks, and peer-to-peer review sessions. Most of the activities will be online, but the cohort will come together twice in person for six-day intensive mentoring sessions.
